The Big Fresno Fair dates to 1884 and returns to the fairgrounds every October. For about two weeks Fresno turns out for livestock judging, horse racing, concerts and long rows of food stands. The fair grew out of the farm economy of the San Joaquin Valley, and exhibits of local crops remain a centerpiece.
